Elon Musk said X is going to remove its block feature. It won’t.
Removing the block functionality from X (formerly Twitter) is unlikely to happen. The move would violate the Apple Store and Google Play Store guidelines—which would remove X from said stores. That, essentially, would kill the app.
The big question is this: why would Musk want to remove the block feature, anyway? For most people, blocking acts as a protection and safety measure against harmful accounts.
Here’s what Musk said: “The giant block lists are problematic. They mess up the recommendation system & create a DDoS vector.”
X users aren’t loving this potential platform update. Even Monica Lewinsky had something to say about it—to which X’s CEO rebutted. Yaccarino reassured users that safety on the platform is its number one priority.
But at this point, who and what should we believe?
