Meta has given up on NFTs. Have you?

Meta has given up on NFTs. Have you?

For the past ten months, the company has allowed users to mint, sell, and share NFTs on Instagram on Facebook. But for the Meta, the future of NFTs is no more.

According to Stephane Kasriel, Leading Commerce and FinTech at Meta, the company will instead focus on supporting users in different ways.

In a Twitter thread, Kasriel writes, “Let me be clear: creating opportunities for creators and businesses to connect with their fans and monetize remains a priority, and we’re going to focus on areas where we can make impact at scale, such as messaging and monetization opps for Reels.”

As is the case for most digital platform promises, we’ll have to wait and see how potential new features play out.

What do you think—does this move from Meta signal the death of NFTs?
