October 31st is one of our favorite days of the year. On Halloween, you are encouraged to tap into your inner kid. Or in the case of the tech industry – your (maybe-not-so-inner) nerd. The only thing you have to do is find or make a killer costume. If you are still looking for your perfect costume, we’ve got some ideas for you…
Tech-Inspired Costumes
How about being a mobile app? You can go as a food app and walk around serving food, as a fitness app with a tracker on you, or a mindfulness app and go dressed as the Dali Lama. The possibilities are limitless. You can dress as a character from a game app – anything from a SIMS character to a shark from Hungry Shark World.
Gamers may want to go as a favorite character like Jack Baker from Resident Evil 7, by donning a yellow shirt, denim khakis, oval glasses, and a bad combover. You’ll flip the script and look like an Indiana Jones character who never made it out of that last cave! Fans of Fortnite or Overwatch can find a lot of variety of costumes this year at a site called Spirit Halloween You can also find costumes there, from Assassins Creed, Fallout, Halo, Kingdom Hearts, Minecraft, Mortal Kombat and Zelda.
Funny Costumes Are Always A Hit
Of course, nothing beats the irony of a funny costume. You can go as an Error Code page by using a single sheet of white paper and a black marker to write, “Error 404: Costume Not Found,” and tape it to your clothing. Another simple costume is to dress up in all brown and hand out graham crackers and you instantly become an “Instagrammer.” Or, reimagine the old fallback white sheet ghost costume and give it another life this year (pun intended) by dobbing some black ink on it, picking up a book and large quill pen, and turning yourself into a “Ghostwriter.” Or skip the costume altogether and just take a black marker and write BO and OK on either side of your nose and you instantly become Facebook!

There are currently 2,823 emojis in the Unicode Standard. That’s a lot of material to work with! The Cactus emoji 🌵 is all the rage right now. It seems everyone loves the succulent for a variety of reasons but it is used most in jest to flip the bird and to poke fun at someone. Emoji faces are easy, whether you want a happy 😀 or sad face 😟 a crying face 😭 a tongue-out face 😜or a heart face 😍 all you need is a palette of basic colors like red, white, black and yellow.
